Newton Equestrian is at the heart of the picturesque Lizard Peninsula which is the UK’s most southerly point. We are very lucky to have a number of countryside areas for hacks and we are only 15-30 minutes (depending on your riding ability) from two beaches; there is nothing nicer than a ride on one of our local cove beaches to help you unwind from the stresses of everyday life.
Literally just down the road from us at Poldhu is the Marconi visitor centre marking the birthplace of the first transatlantic telephone link, or visit Mullion’s Historic Harbour and small beach and have a coffee or ice cream in the café there.
Just over the hill you will also find Church cove and Fishing Cove (Gunwalloe), where part of the very popular ‘Poldark’ series was filmed.
There are two good pubs in the village that sell local ale and good food; also nearby are Mullion Meadows and Trenance Chocolate Factory – visit the centre for lunch, look around an art gallery, buy some honey cosmetics and have lunch and see where the chocolate is made in the chocolate factory.
Mullion golf course is always good for the keen golfer to enjoy with its course right next to the beach. There are coastal walks to the beaches or down to Mullion Cove.
Slightly further afield is Flambards Theme Park with its Victorian Village, themed rides and many more attractions suitable for all the family and Poldark Mine (As seen on TV!); an old tin mine that can be explored and has many historical things of interest. For the theatre lover, why not visit the beautiful open air Minack Theatre in a dramatic location perched on the cliffs.
These are just a few among many things to see and do in our part of Cornwall; see the Visit Cornwall Guide for more information.
